The Open Government Action Plan was developed to direct and coordinate federal Open Government activities and contains 12 commitments related to Open Data, Open Information and Open Dialogue. It is aligned with what we heard during consultations held between December 6, 2011 and January 16, 2012, and is part of Canada's participation in the Open Government Partnership.
One of the three streams of Open Government is Open Dialogue. Open Dialogue is about engaging Canadians and giving them a strong say in Government policies, programs and priorities. This will be supported by expanding engagement and interaction through Web 2.0 technologies, and will provide Canadians with greater opportunities to participate in the Government, the economy and the democratic process.
Engaging Canadians is important because their input informs the work of the Government and helps the Government make better decisions for all of us.
